Wednesday 17th August - Part Two

Part Two


After getting back from the bike ride I relaxed a bit in the shade but missed lunch.  After showering and returning downstairs I was very please to see lunch ready for me.  Spaghetti in tomato sauce, bread, salad, water, red wine (local), formaggio and some olio di peperoncino (chilli oil).  Splendid!

In the afternoon I headed to Feltre with Chiara for another look around.  I ended up buying a few cycling books from one of the two decent book shops there but this time they were in italian.  I already know the history of the italian cyclist Marco Pantani from the excellent (if technical) book by Matt Rendell but I decided to try "Gli ultimi giorni di Marco Pantiani' (The Last Days of...) and as well as the normal paperback they had a cartoon version so I got that as well - http://tinyurl.com/3flczh7.  Now I can read and learn at the same time.


We needed a few things from the supermarket to headed to the Co-op or "coop' as they say here.  When we got back Giorgio was starting to prepare his sea food salad for the birthday party in the evening.

The party was for Chiara's brother Enrico and soon all the crowd were here and a celebratory toast was made using a bottle of Chardonnay from Montrachet-Puligny.  Very very nice and everyone seemed to like it.


First up was bruschetta with three different toppings, then spaghetti with clams, then another anti-pasti of the seafood salad and then roast tomato stuffed with risotto.  And stuffed I was.  The local pinot was nice too so I had a few slim glasses of that, followed by an espresso and some coffee liquor.

 I almost forgot the tiramisu... provided by Patricia the lady next door.  It was soon demolished by the crowd including an 'all-forks-in' battle for the last two pieces.  Delicious!
