Saturday 20th of August

I headed out after breakfast to ride a route I did the other day, only this time I'd do it in reverse and try not to make as many navigational errors.  The road from Arten through Fiera and Facen to Padevana is quite pretty and only had very light traffic.  There were quite a few cyclists out and about on this road.

I don't think that the day warmed up so quickly, rather that the GPS was cool in the house and took time to warm up once outside.  It was still damned hot though, with the shop displays showing 34-35C.  I was fine when moving but when stopped in the soon I soon began to overheat.
Nothing too challenging here

It was an enjoyable ride and big chunks of it will be repeated in the local race tomorrow but they'll be doing three laps.

In the afternoon Chiara wanted to go and watch a demonstration of rescue dogs at a nearby lake so I went along.  Clearly lots of other people had the same idea and it was obviously a popular thing.

After a small demonstration of walking in circles - these are the young trainees
Kitted up with life vests - the young ones were thrown in and just had to swim back
Older dog going out to collect its first victim.  Later they were pulling 3-4 people and boats back
It was clever to see these dogs working but I'm not quite sure I understand the logic of them.  Yes St Bernards in the mountains... they can sniff people out but at a lake they need handlers and more or less told what to do.  If you have a handler why can't they borrow a boat and fish out the drowning person.  The demonstration went on for a while and wasn't massively adrenalin filled for the audience so Chiara's dog Zara was putting on a much better demonstration of stick fetching.

Maybe Giorgio had the best idea though
