I'd no plans to do anything specific
while I was there but Andrea had mentioned trying to keep up his
training while on holiday and had spoken of a run. I had my running
gear with me so offered to go out with him for some kms. The run
started off nice and easy but he had warned me it was going to kick
in soon and sure it did. I need to get the log from his watch but a
quick play on mapmyrun suggests it climbs 100m in 0.6km which is
about 16% average incline according to my calcs. Thankfully the rest
of the hours run was downhill or flat, with some of it alongside the
lake.
Lunch was cooked by Andrea's mum and
started with ruota pasta (wheels) and spaghetti sauce. Andrea warned
me not to eat too much as more was on its way and he was right. To
follow was pizzetta, in this case sliced courgette with
cheese/ham/capers on and grilled and also a steak (thankfully thin).
As usual there was local red wine on the table and bread. I was
completely full even after the running but managed to fit in a bit of
crumbly biscuit fruit cake stuff and the Prosecco I'd taken along.
After a while we headed back to Anfo to
meet the ladies/girls and had another trip to the lake but this time
with ice cream (I could only manage a frozen juice one as I was still
full). On the way back to the restaurant we bumped into his wife's
uncle who happened to have a couple of nice bikes in his garage that
he was willing to show us.
Back to Punto Carrafolo more food was
in store, this time more pasta for starters and then bresoala and
more pizzetta with salad followed by fruit.
